Black Swan 2010 directed by Darren Aronofsky

The recent film Black Swan is a mysterious thriller about a dancer who wins the lead in “Swan Lake” and is perfect for the role of the delicate White Swan. But slowly loses her mind as she becomes more and more like Odile, the Black Swan. The reason why this is a mysterious thriller, along with a psychological thriller is becuase of the plotline. In the film the main character starts to loose her mind, with ultimately makes this a psychological thriller, where the atmosphere takes hold of it’s audience and ushers them to watch further.

Shutter Island 2010 directed by Martin Scorsese

Shutter Island is another mysterious and psychological thriller involving a police man who enter’s a mental asylum. However, as the plot thickens the police man (Leonardo DiCaprio) is not all he seems, and takes lots of twist and turns into revealing that he infact, is a patient at the hospital itself. With the storyline being so deep and confusing, follows the conventions of a typical thriller film. Also with a complicated story line comes an interested audience, so therefore they will want to watch on. The ending is a clear example of a cliffhanger within the thriller genre.
